Philadelphia, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team placed seventh of 25 teams that competed in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Saturday at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Senior Kevin McDonnell crossed the finish line fourth overall to lead the Hawks in a field of 183 runners.
McDonnell completed the 10K course in 30:40.9 while junior Jon Mazzio turned in a time of 31:12.8 for 24th place. Freshman Logan Mohn crossed the line next for SJU in 31:56.9 to earn 51st place while fellow freshman Paul Szulewski placed 65th with a time of 32:14.2. Rounding out the scoring in fifth place and 72nd overall was sophomore Michael Rankin with a time of 32:24.6.
With McDonnell's fourth place finish, he was selected to compete at the NCAA Championships at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located in the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. The race is set to begin at 12:58 p.m. on Monday, November 21.
The team will compete this Saturday at the IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
