Men’s Cross Country Records Multiple Personal Bests at Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team posted a strong performance at the Paul Short Run on Friday morning at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus, highlighted by multiple career-best times and several 8K debuts.
 
About the Event 
  • The Hawks competed across the Open and Gold divisions, taking on the 8K course.
  • St. Joe's finished 17th out of 40 teams.
  • 344 runners competed across the gold race, while 575 participated in the open race. Nine Hawks competed in the open event, seven in the gold race.
How It Happened (Men's College Gold 8K) 
  • Gavin Mogck paced the Crimson and Gray in his first 8K for St. Joe's, finishing 53rd overall in 24:06.3.
  • Will Rau followed, running a career-best 24:18.1 to secure 78th. Just seconds behind, Michael Glavin also set a new career-best, crossing in 24:20.6 for 83rd.
  • Anthony Gargani continued the Hawks' strong performance, running 24:47.5 to finish 130th. Ryan Cichocki closed out the scoring performances for the Hawks with a 24:49.8 finish for 141st.
  • Andrea Botteon made his 8K debut, posting a time of 25:18.7.
 
How It Happened (Men's Open 8K) 
  • Jay Shanahan led the Hawks, placing 10th overall in the field of 575 with a career-best 24:19.7.
  • Matt Hoffman followed in 44th with a time of 24:57.7, while Evan McGregor crossed five seconds later in 48th at 25:02.1. Both runners set new career-best times, while Brendan Hefferan also recorded a career-best 25:26.4 for 91st.
  • Elijah Stoudt posted his fastest time to date, running 25:51.9 for 155th, with Jackson Kane close behind in his 8K debut at 25:53.7.
  • Noah Deckert finished in 26:03.6, while Christian Napoli completed his first 8K in 26:18.1.
  • Ian Romea rounded out the Hawks' finishers with a 26:57.4.

The Hawks return to action on Friday, October 17 in the IC4A Championships at Lehigh University.
