Newark, Del. - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell to Delaware, 13-3, on Wednesday at Delaware Stadium. The Hawks tied it at 2-2, with 7:51 remaining in the first half, but the Blue Hens went on a 10-0 run through the second half to clinch the win.

Delaware got on the board first with the first of its five free-position goals in the game. Grace Dinn answered back, connecting on a free-position shot to knot the game, 1-1.

After Delaware got a unassisted goal from Stephanie Allen, Hawks' Jen Peters scored off a pass from Dinn to tie the score, 2-2. Delaware scored three more goals in the first half to take a 5-2 lead at the break.

The Blue Hens tallied seven goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half, including four consecutive free-position goals, to take a 12-2 lead. At the 10:47 mark, Saint Joseph's Elizabeth Fox scored an unassisted goal, but Delaware netted one more and held the Hawks off in the remaining minutes.

The Blue Hens outshot SJU, 15-7, in the second half and had a 12-6 advantage in draw controls in the game. Delaware also caused 15 of the Hawks 21 turnovers on the afternoon.

Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Kaitlin LaBarbera made five saves in net.

The Hawks return to action on Saturday when they host Saint Mary's in their first-ever meeting with the Gaels. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. on Finnesey Field.
