The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-6 match to Penn State at Bigler Field on Saturday afternoon. Kyle Williams and Kyle Mahoney notched two goals apiece for the Hawks.
Penn State opened scoring with three goals in the first quarter. Mahoney tallied the Hawks first goal with 7:18 remaining in the frame to end the first, 3-1.
The Lions scored three goals again to start the second period before Williams scored his first goal. Penn State attacked back with a goal just six seconds later to make it 7-2, but Mahoney scored with 31 seconds to go for a 7-3 score at halftime.
The two teams traded goals in the third quarter with Penn State striking first. Dunn scored and after a Lions' goal sophomore Ian Correia scored his first career goal in the crimson and gray to make it 11-5.
Penn State tallied two more at the end of the third and added three goals in the fourth to make it 14-5 before Williams tallied the final goal of the game with 31 seconds to go.
The Hawks return to action when they host Massachusetts in their first home conference match of the season on Saturday, April 2. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
