The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team dropped its final match of the season to 13th-ranked Massachusetts, 18-4, as it honored three seniors - Kaitlin LaBarbera, Christine Readinger and Francesca Volpe - on Senior Day at Finnesey Field on Saturday.
Massachusetts scored three goals in the first seven minutes before Hawks' Alana Glanell scored to make it 3-1, but the Minutewomen went on to score nine more goals before the break for a 12-1 lead at halftime.
UMass opened the second half with a goal before the Hawks responded with back-to-back goals from Grace Dinn and Val Paolucci to make it 13-3 with 15:45 left in the game.
The Minutewomen netted five more goals to ice the win and Dinn scored the final goal of the game with 2:29 to go.
Jackie Lyons led Massachusetts with six points including three goals and three assists, while the Atlantic 10 leading scorer, Katie Ferris added two scores and three helpers.
Dinn led SJU with two goals while Glanell finished with a goal and an assist and Gwen Nihill assisted on one goal. LaBarbera made four saves in net for the Hawks.
Saint Joseph's closes out their season today with a record of 5-11 overall and 1-6 in the Atlantic 10.
