St. Bonaventure Rallies Back to Defeat Women's Lacrosse, 11-10

Alfred, N.Y. - Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team led by four, 10-6, with 13:12 to play, but St. Bonaventure scored five goals, including four in the last 3:25, to come back and defeat the Hawks, 11-10, on Friday afternoon at Alfred University.

The Bonnies got on the board 2:45 into the game, but Jen Peters answered with a goal just 52 seconds later off a pass from teammate Alana Glanell. After a Bonnies goal at the 23:38 mark, Glanell netted the first of five consecutive Hawk' goals to make it 6-2 with 3:45 to go in the frame. The Bonnies tallied another goal less than a minute later for a 6-3 halftime score.

The Hawks outshot St. Bonaventure, 14-6, in the frame while goalkeeper Kaitlin LaBarbera made three saves in net.

Saint Joseph's opened scoring in the second half with goals from Glanell and Gwen Nihill to push the lead to five, 9-3, before the Bonnies responded with two goals.

Peters scored at the 14:42 mark, but the Bonnies answered just 40 seconds later. After a goal by Hawks' Grace Dinn at the 13:12 mark, St. Bonaventure went on a 5-0 run to take the lead, 11-10, with 1:19 on the clock. The Bonnies scored four of the five goals in the last 3:25 of the game.

SBU outshot the Hawks, 20-12, and picked up 13 ground balls to SJU's five in the second half. Overall, the Bonnies held a 14-9 advantage in draw controls.

Glanell led the Hawks with two goals and two assists while Peters, Dinn, and Meghan McDevitt each added two goals apiece. LaBarbera finished with eight saves in goal for SJU.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne. The first draw is set for 1:00 p.m.
