PHILADELPHIA - Led by a seventh-place finish by sophomore Logan Mohn, the men's cross country team finished second out of 16 teams at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championships 8K on Saturday morning. The Hawks finished with 121 points, 83 points behind first-place Butler. The meet, hosted by Temple, took place on the course of the Belmont Plateau at West Fairmount Park in Philadelphia and saw 136 runners out of 16 teams complete the race.

Mohn led the Hawks for the first time this season after placing in the top five for the Hawks in his three other 2012 meets. In 45th-place after his first mile (5:01.2), Mohn notched up his performance as he improved 38 places to nab the seventh-place finish, clocking in at 26:00.5. The 38-place improvement was the most significant increase in race position for any of the top-15 runners.

"I went out feeling pretty good," said Mohn. "I was kind of far back but I wanted to go out conservative because I knew that the course was tough with a lot of hills in the last part of the race. Every mile I just tried to pick up my pace a little bit and towards the end I just came out and felt really good . . . We did a lot of workouts here just to make sure we knew every mile of the race and all of the footing, so it was definitely a benefit training here."

As he placed in the top 15, Mohn was named to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Cross Country All-Conference team.

Junior Mike Rankin placed second for the Hawks and 23rd overall with a time of 26:28.7 while graduate student Dan Roark came in just behind Rankin in 26th-place, clocking in at 26:30.4.

Junior Aaron Leskow and sophomore Paul Szulewski rounded out the top five for the Hawks in 29th (26:38.2) and 37th (26:41.3), respectively.

"The meet didn't go the way we expected it to," said head coach Mike Glavin. "While we're deep, we're not so deep as to cover our first and second runners. On the flip side of that, that means some other guys stepped up. I kept begging for guys to give me one more piece and they kept giving me one more piece. Guys that weren't in my top seven placed third, fourth, and fifth, and that's big to step up so that we could go up and take a plaque for second."
