Women's Lacrosse Falls to Temple, 19-11

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell to cross town opponent Temple, 19-11, on Friday afternoon at Geasey Field. Junior Nora McGuire led the Hawks with a six-point day on three goals and three assists.

Paolucci and Grace Dinn scored early for SJU as both teams traded two goals in the opening 13 minutes of play. Temple used a 6-2 run to end the first half as Paolucci added another and Meghan McDevitt scored her only of the contest.

Temple carried the momentum from the end of the first half into the second as it stretched its run to 12-2, to make the score 14-4 with 22:37 remaining in regulation. McGuire scored her first at 17:59 with Julia Falcone adding a second to give the Hawks some life. The Owls quickly answered back, putting together another run of 4-1 before the Hawks fought back with four late goals to end the game.

Dinn, Falcone, McGuire and Paolucci all scored multiple goals for Saint Joseph's with McDevitt added one. Jaymie Tabor had a game-high four goals for TU as Karly Cohen and Stephanie Markunas chipped in to net three of their own.

The Owls controlled the draws, winning 20 to SJU's 12 and also outshot the Hawks, 25-21. Temple's Tess Bishop picked up her ninth win in net making four saves, while Alisha Aquilino took the loss for Saint Joseph's stopping four shots.

The Hawks will return to action when they play their final regular season game of the season at La Salle against the Explorers. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
