AMHERST, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's softball team dropped its Atlantic 10 series finale at Massachusetts on Saturday, 9-3, to the host Minutewomen. The Hawks (16-24, 5-7 A-10) remain in New England to face Rhode Island in a doubleheader on Sunday.

Freshman Lauren Rendon gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI single to left field that scored junior Dana Parks all the way from first.

Saint Joseph's would make it a 2-0 game in the top of the fourth as junior Deanna Stinner led off the inning with a solo home run to left field.

Massachusetts would answer with three runs in the bottom of the inning off SJU starter Taryn Ashway to make it a 3-2 advantage in favor of the home team.

The Minutewomen would open the game in the next two innings, scoring six times to make it a 9-2 game heading to the top of the seventh.

The Hawks' offense rallied, loading the bases with two outs. Junior Juliette D'Ambrosio would work a walk to score pinch runner Taylor McGorry, but the Minutewomen would get the final out to end the game.

At the plate, Parks finished 3-of-4, while Rendon went 2-for-3. Ashway, who fell to 9-12 with the loss, struck out six over six innings of work.
