Lauren Rendon Named to NFCA All-Region Team

May 17, 2012

STARKVILLE, MISS. - Saint Joseph's freshman catcher Lauren Rendon has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team. The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams.

Rendon earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team honors this season as well as a spot on the A-10 All-Rookie Team.

Making an immediate impact in the middle of the Saint Joseph's lineup, Rendon led the Hawks in home runs (eight) and RBIs (325), while ranking third in batting average (.307). Playing all 52 games this season, with 51 starts, she established herself as one of the top catchers in the league and helped the SJU pitching staff to the second-best ERA (2.25) in the conference.

The Hawks finished the year with a 22-29-1 record while earning their fourth consecutive bid to the Atlantic 10 Championship and advancing to the third day of play in the tournament.
