Men's Cross Country Opens Season with Fourth Place Finish at TCNJ Blue/Gold Classic

Pennington, N.J. - The men's cross country team finished fourth out of five teams at the TCNJ Blue/Gold Classic on Saturday, September 1. SJU opened its season in competition against host TCNJ, TCNJ Alumni, Rider, and Rider Alumni. Freshman Quinn Davis finished first out of all Hawks and 11th overall with a time of 16:09.70 for the 5K course.

Fellow freshman Scott Davis began his collegiate running career in a big way, placing second on the squad and 18th overall, just over eight seconds more than Q. Davis, with a time of 16:17.80. Senior Andrew Townsend finished 26th overall (16:34.00) while sophomore Steven Butenewicz (16:41.00) and freshman John Egan (16:56.80) finished 30th and 37th overall, respectively.

The Hawks will compete at the Harry Groves Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 8) at State College, Pa. Meet time is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
