PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's softball team blanked city rival Drexel, 3-0, Friday afternoon. The Hawks got a RBI from senior Rochelle Christman and a two-run home run from sophomore Melissa Ruf, while senior Taryn Ashway earned the win.

In the top of the second, with the bases loaded, Christman lifted a deep fly ball to left field that allowed senior Monica Aguilar to tag up and score the first run.

The Hawks would retain their 1-0 lead into the seventh when Ruf added insurance runs, blasting a two-run home run that scored Dana Parks as well to make it 3-0.

Three runs was more than enough for the Hawks' pitching staff. Ashway allowed just four hits over five runs to earn the win, while freshman Liz Mendez worked the final two innings, striking out four, while allowing just one hit.
