The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team battled hard with Bucknell on Tuesday, but the Hawks ultimately fell to the Bison, 4-3, at the SJU Tennis Complex. The Hawks were victorious in the final three singles flights, but Bucknell got wins in singes flights one through three and took the doubles point to secure the victory.
Max Montague was a 6-2, 6-3 straight-sets winner in the fourth flight, while Dan Barrus took the sixth flight in a supertiebreaker, 3-6, 6-3, 12-10.
Jeff Kessler won his fifth flight match in a tough three-setter, coming from a set down to earn a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win.
Pierre Brondeau lost a three-set match, falling by a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 score, in the second flight.
The Hawks will head across town to take on local rival Drexel on Thursday. The match is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
