PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The women's lacrosse team fell to Duquesne, 16-1, in Atlantic 10 conference action on Friday afternoon at Rooney Field. With the loss, the Hawks stand at 6-5 overall and 0-2 in the A-10.

Leading 7-1 at the half, Duquesne (7-4, 2-0 A-10) went on a second-half 9-0 run to seal the 16-1 victory.

The Dukes jumped out to an early 4-0 lead just 4:02 into the game before Saint Joseph's got on the board from graduate student attack Meghan McDevitt's 21st goal of the season. McDevitt made a quick move around the left side of the cage and put the ball low into the back of the net to put the Hawks on the board, 4-1, at the 23:25 mark.

The Dukes netted another goal just 0:24 and added two more in the final three minutes of the half (2:29, 1:28) to take a 7-1 lead into halftime.

For the game, Duquesne held advantages in shots (32-10) and ground balls (12-6) while forcing 20 SJU turnovers, three off of failed clear attempts. Amanda Kidder and A-10 Player of the Week Haley Marafioti combined for seven of the Dukes' 16 goals.

For the Hawks, sophomore midfielder Julia Falcone picked up a team-high three ground balls and caused two turnovers.

Freshman goalkeeper Genevieve Giblin (5-5) made eight saves in a full 60-minute effort.

Saint Joseph's will look to bounce back this Sunday, April 7 at St. Bonaventure. The A-10 matchup is scheduled for noon at McGraw-Jennings Field in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
