Men's Soccer Travels to St. Francis on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team will look to bounce back from a pair of losses when the Hawks travel to Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. to take on the Terriers of St. Francis this Thursday. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Brooklyn Bridge Park – Pier 5.

Coming off of losses to Siena (4-1) and Cornell (1-0) within the past week, Saint Joseph's will look for its first road win of the 2013 season this Thursday. The Hawks will look to create better offensive pressure after being outshot 17-5 by the Big Red on Saturday. On the season, sophomore midfielder Tim Lazorko (2G, 2A), junior midfielder Jake Nelson (2G) and senior midfielder Jimmy Reilly (1G, 1A) lead the Hawks in scoring while redshirt senior Andrew D'Ottavi (1-3-3) sports a 1.53 GAA and .725 saves percentage in 645:00.

St. Francis is in the midst of a three-game winning streak having last defeated Manhattan College by a final score of 3-1 on Sunday. The Terriers' Gabriel Bagot recorded the first goal of the match off of a penalty kick while Viktor Bakkioui added two more goals for St. Francis in the second half. On the season, Kevin Correa (5G, 3A) and Bagot (4G, 2A) lead the Terriers offensively. Jack Binks has seen most of the action in goal and owns a 1.33 GAA and .739 saves percentage in 405:00. 

Saint Joseph's will play three consecutive matches on the road in the upcoming weeks. After taking on St. Francis this Thursday, the Hawks will travel to Howard on Sunday, September 29 and NJIT on Wednesday, October 2. The squad will return home to kick off Atlantic 10 action against St. Bonaventure on Friday, October 11.

A DIFFERENT LOOK: Head coach Don D'Ambra went with a different starting 11 in SJU's match against Cornell on Saturday, as only five day-to-day starters in goalkeeper Andrew D'Ottavi, defenders Brendan Reilly and Tommy Brooks, and midfielders Tim Lazorko and Jimmy Reilly were on the pitch to start the match. Joining Reilly and Brooks on the defensive end were senior Colin Reilly and freshman Coupar Lipp, both making their first collegiate starts, and junior Jake Mulinge, making his first start of the 2013 season. On the offensive end of the field, freshmen Mori Diane, Eric Jordan, and Mike Stuski all made their first collegiate starts.

LAZORKO'S LEAD: Sophomore midfielder Tim Lazorko has tallied at least one point in four of seven matches this season, including goals at Rider and against Hofstra and assists against Temple and at Siena. In 573 minutes, Lazorko has accumulated a team-best six points.
