PUERTO RICO – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team continued its Spring Break trip with a pair of 7-0 wins on Monday, dispatching both Augustana College (S.D.) and the Catholic University of Puerto Rico by identical 7-0 scores.
Against Augustana, the Hawks benefited from dominant performances in singles play as SJU took all six flights in straight sets. Jason Sisti won his sixth-flight match at love, while Dan Barrus was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in the second flight.
Saint Joseph's took all three doubles matches as well, including an 8-1 romp by Sam Cadwell and Clark Ruiz in the third flight.
In the afternoon tilt, CUPR defaulted in all three doubles matches, giving the Hawks the doubles point. In singles play, Tristan Boustany shut out his opponent in the fourth flight, while Kyle Chalmers battled back from a set down to win in a supertiebreaker in the second flight.
The Hawks will wrap up play in Puerto Rico on Tuesday before returning to the United States for a match at St. Bonaventure on Saturday.
