PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory over Atlantic 10 rival Duquesne Saturday afternoon. The Hawks took five of six singles matches to improve to 5-2 overall.

Saint Joseph's got a win at No. 1 doubles from Aurora Davis and Alex Zachem, but the Dukes earned the first point of the match with wins at the second and third flight.

Moving to singles, Davis picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top flight, while Devi Jadeja was a 7-5, 6-3 winner at the third flight. Junior Kelly Mulquin earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at the fourth flight over Chandler Consonery, with rookie Claire Minnoe battling to a 7-5, 6-4 win over Sarah Shashura at the fifth flight. Sophomore Arianna Polatnick put the finishing touches on with a 6-3, 6-4 win at sixth singles to help SJU down conference rival Duquesne.

"The Hawks competed extremely well against a Duquesne squad that beat us 4-3 last year," said head coach Ian Crookenden. "We were out for blood and we got it taking five of six singles. Another validation of what I stated earlier in the season, that this is a better team than that record indicated."
