Softball Falls To Lehigh, 5-1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's softball team dropped its nonconference game at Lehigh, 5-1, Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second as Ashley Alden scored on an error.

Unfortunately for SJU, Lehigh would score twice in the fourth and three times in the fifth to take a 5-1 edge. A lead it would never give up.

At the plate, Melissa Ruf went 2-for-4, while Sarah Yoos and Morgan Earling picked up the other two hits for SJU.

In the circle, sophomore Liz Mendez was the hard-luck loser, allowing two runs, but just one earned in four innings of work, finishing with three strike outs.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Saturday as it hosts George Washington in a doubleheader beginning at noon. The Hawks will honor their senior class prior to game one.
