BRONX, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis capped its weekend against Atlantic 10 competition with a strong 5-2 win over Fordham on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks capped their three-game road trip with a 2-1 mark on the weekend and improved to 10-7 overall.

Starting with doubles, Saint Joseph's fell in the top flight, but got a pair of dominant performances in the second and third flights to take the first point of the match. At the second flight, Kristina Eisenbrand and Sarah Contrata teamed for an 8-2 victory, while Devi Jadeja and Lauren Roy solidified the point with an 8-1 decision at the third flight over Julie Leong and Angelika Dabu.

Picked to finish three spots behind the Rams in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll, it was the Hawks who showcased the deeper and more talented roster, taking four of six singles matches. At the top flight, Davis posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Elliesa Ball, while Jadeja picked up her second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Dabu at the third singles flight.

Kelly Mulquin earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles, while Arianne Polatnick capped the day with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Hanna Fritzinger to give Saint Joseph's its fifth point.

"It was a great match for us and really validated what I said earlier in the season that we are better than our record showed," said head coach Ian Crookenden. "Our senior captain Devi Jadeja had a great day with convincing wins at doubles and singles, and Aurora Davis bounced back well for us. Overall, everyone played their roll and we had a great conclusion to our road trip and are ready to roll."

Saint Joseph's returns to action Tuesday at A-10 newcomer George Mason.
