Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Senior forward Mike Glazer scored in the 68th minute to lead the Saint Joseph's men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Howard (0-6) on Wednesday evening on Sweeney Field. With the victory, the Hawks stand at 3-1-1 and are off to their best start since the 2002 season.
Following a Howard yellow card, the Hawks were set up with a free kick 20 yards out. Junior forward Mark Colville launched a pass into the middle of the box to Glazer, who put a header into the lower-right corner of the net to tally the deciding goal of the match.
For the match, Saint Joseph's owned a 12-2 advantage in shots, including an 8-0 dominating first-half effort, and a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jay Higbee (2-1) picked up his second win of the season in a full 90:00 effort.
Sophomore midfielder Sam Irvin and Glazer combined for five shots.
Saint Joseph's returns to action against Drexel in a Philadelphia Soccer Six match scheduled for this Saturday, September 13. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.
