WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's capped play at the Rebel Games with a pair of wins to go 4-0 for the tournament. On Wednesday, the Hawks opened with an 8-0 win over Niagara and earned a walk-off victory in eight innings over South Dakota, 6-5.

Versus the Purple Eagles, the Hawks got solid pitching from rookie Nikki Alden as she held Niagara scoreless, while the SJU bats errupted for eight combined runs in the fourth and fifth innings for an 8-0 win.

Allowing just three hits, Nikki Alden kept Niagara off the board as Saint Joseph's opened a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Second baseman Sarah Yoos walked to open the inning and was following by Ashley Alden who blasted a home run to put the Hawks ahead 2-0.

A sacrifice fly by Cyndi Wilson scored Nikki Alden to make it 3-0, while the Purple Eagles misplayed a double by Nicole Palase, allowing Melissa Ruf and Hannah Dionne to score.

A triple by Ashley Alden scored Yoos to make it 6-0, with Nikki Alden getting her sister home in the next at-bat on a sacrifice fly. Wilson would come around to score the game winner on a fielding error off a hard-struck ball by Madeline Brunck.

For the game, Nikki Alden picked up the victory, while sister Ashley went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Brunck, Ruf and Palase all collected two hits against the Purple Eagles.

In game two, the Hawks and South Dakota went to extra innings tied at 4-4. South Dakota tallied a run in the top of the eighth, but Saint Joseph's was soon to answer.

Ashley Alden tied the game at 5-5 on a one-out double that scored Palase. Saint Joseph's would load the bases with two outs when Brunck stepped to the plate and delivered a game-winning single that scored Ashley Alden.

A single by Brandi Harkness scored Palase to give SJU a 1-0 lead in the first, but South Dakota tallied two runs in the second to jump ahead 2-1.

South Dakota added a run in the top of the third to take a two-run lead, but Saint Joseph's answered with three in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-3 edge. Ruf and Harkness each drilled solo shots and Ashley Alden doubled home Yoos to give the Hawks the lead.

A run in the top of the seventh tied the game before the exciting ending in extra innings.
