BRONX, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's softball team dropped a pair of game at Fordham, Saturday afternoon at Bahoshy Field.
The Hawks (21-14, 6-7 Atlantic 10) fell 8-0 in five innings in both games and will look to finish the series with a victory Sunday as the two teams cap the series at noon.
In Saturday's opener, the Rams struck first with seven runs on eight hits in the bottom of the first against SJU starter Madison Clarke.
Saint Joseph's offense, which got a one-out single by Isabella Picard in the top of the first, could not get going against Fordham as the Hawks finished with just three hits.
Fordham would add a run in the third to push its lead to 8-0 and kept the Hawks off the scoreboard over the next two innings to earn the win.
Clarke fell to 16-5 overall with the loss for SJU. Junior pitcher Anna Lauterbach came on in relief, going 3.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits while adding a strike out.
At the plate, Picard, Kerrie Kortmann and Madeline Brunck each finished with a hit.
In game two, Fordham struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the third against Lauterbach to open a 2-0 lead.
The Rams added a run in the fourth and five more in the fifth against Clarke to earn the 8-0 win.
At the plate, Kortmann, first baseman Alexia Faulkner and center fielder Erica Nugent each had a hit.
In the circle, Lauterbach fell to 1-3 on the season after allowing two runs on three hits over three innings, while striking out three.
