Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team dropped a 16-4 contest to Temple at Geasey Field on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 1-5 while the Owls (7-1) extend their winning streak to seven games. Junior attacker Nora McCallion scored three goals to go with an assist for her fifth multi-goal game of the season while freshman midfielder Rebecca Lane added one goal and one assist.
Temple put away the first three goals of the game before McCallion scored her 14th goal of the season on a dish from Lane, who earned her first collegiate assist on the play at the 21:36 mark of the half.
The Owls scored the next eight goals of the half to own an 11-1 advantage entering the halftime break.
Temple scored the first two goals of the second half before McCallion netted her 15th goal of the season at the 22:25 mark to close the deficit to 11 goals, 13-2.
The Owls' Kira Gensler responded to put Temple back up ahead by 12, but McCallion scored her team-leading 16th goal of the season at the 17:06 mark and assisted on Lane's fourth score of the year at the 15:12 mark to bring the differential back to 10 goals, 14-4.
Temple scored the final two goals of the game as the 16-4 score would stand as time expired.
For the game, Temple owned a 29-13 advantage in shots to go with edges in ground balls (16-13) and draw controls (11-10). Five of Temple's goals came from free position shots.
Senior defender Caroline Hagan and junior midfielder Megan Tracy earned three ground balls apiece while freshman midfielder Ally Beck caused a team-high two turnovers on Temple's offense. Tracy and junior midfielder Maggie Egan registered two draw controls each.
Senior goalkeeper Genevieve Giblin (1-5) made 10 saves in the full 60:00.
Saint Joseph's returns home to face Columbia next Saturday, March 19. Opening draw is scheduled for noon on Sweeney Field.
