CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 17th-ranked Cavaliers scored the final four goals of the game to earn a come-from-behind win as the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team fell to Virginia, 9-7, at Klöckner Stadium on Tuesday evening. Senior midfielder Kevin Forster led the Hawks with two goals. With the loss, Saint Joseph's falls to 3-2 while Virginia improves to 3-3.

All six of SJU's starting offensive players registered a point, while 10 Hawks in all factored into the scoring.

Trailing 2-0 after the 15:00, Saint Joseph's outscored UVa 4-1 in the second period to jump ahead, 4-3, by halftime. Forster (9:50) and junior midfielder Anthony Joaquim (9:34) scored back-to-back goals just 24 seconds apart before Forster scored again on a feed from junior attackman Mike Rastivo to give the Hawks their first lead of the game, 3-2, with 7:08 to play in the first half.

UVa's Mike D'Amario tied it up at the 3:18 mark, but Saint Joseph's junior goalkeeper T.J. Jones made a save and found junior midfielder Evan Wolf streaking up the field with a long outlet pass; Wolf caught it in stride and scored his first goal of the season to give SJU a 4-3 lead (2:56) to bring into the halftime break.

The Hawks didn't let up in the third period, as redshirt sophomore midfielder Hayes McGinley (8:49) and junior midfielder Kevin Reidinger (3:16), on a dish from sophomore attackman Chris Blewitt, scored to put SJU up by three goals, 6-3, its biggest lead of the game.

UVa clawed back, however, scoring with 1:17 left in the third and just 11 seconds into the fourth to close the deficit to one, but Saint Joseph's senior attackman Pat Swanick scored on a feed from sophomore attackman Kyle Cain to push SJU's lead back out to two scores, 7-5, heading into the final 12:34.

From there, the Cavaliers scored four unassisted goals (9:36, 8:47, 7:55, 1:17) to earn the come-from-behind win.

Virginia owned a 45-32 edge in shots, including a 15-5 advantage in the final 15:00. The Cavaliers also earned a 35-27 edge in ground balls and won 12 of 18 possible possessions from the X.

Junior Mike Lanham went 4-of-10 from the circle while sophomore midfielder Davis Stoner earned a team-high four ground balls.

Jones (3-2) made 10 saves in the full 60:00.

Saint Joseph's returns to action at Monmouth this Saturday, March 12. Opening face-off in West Long Branch, N.J. is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
