Field Hockey Welcomes Doris Offerhaus for 2016 Season

The Saint Joseph's field hockey program will welcome 10 new student-athletes for the 2016 season.  Over the coming weeks, we'll introduce Hawk fans to the new additions, one by one.  This week: Doris Offerhaus.

Doris Offerhaus, a native of the Netherlands, will join the Saint Joseph's field hockey program for the 2016 season.  She hails from Naarden, where she played for St. Vitus College High School.

A defender and midfielder, Offerhaus helped lead St. Vitus to a regional school championship in 2014.  She was also a regional selection in the Dutch national team program.

“I am excited to be a part of a great family and to have an unforgettable time on Hawk Hill,” she said.

Offerhaus played for the top under-18 club team at Hockey Club Naarden.  With HC Naarden, she was a part of four consecutive indoor championships from 2011-14 and an outdoor championship in 2013.

“I had the opportunity to visit Saint Joseph's in December, and I loved the atmosphere and the people,” Offerhaus said.  “I cannot wait to become a part of it.  The Hawk Will Never Die!”

“We're excited to welcome Doris and her positive spirit; she's a great fit for our Hawk family culture,” head coach Lynn Farquhar said.  “Doris has exceptional hockey experience and can play in any line; her ability to thread passes and desire to re-establish possession will be key elements in the growth of our transition play.”

Offerhaus and the rest of the new Hawks will join the field hockey program in time for the 2016 season.
