PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior Sarah Yoos hit her team-leading seventh home run of the season, but it wasn't enough Wednesday as the Hawks dropped a doubleheader at Penn.
SJU fell 7-0 in the opener and 4-1 in the nightcap.
In the opener, the Quakers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third off an RBI single against SJU starter Ashley Ventura.
Penn added six insurance runs in the fifth, with five going as unearned to open a 7-0 edge.
Saint Joseph's, which was held to just two hits, couldn't make up the difference as Ventura fell to 8-7 on the year despite allowing just two earned runs.
In game two, Yoos struck first for SJU with a solo home run in the top of the first to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
Penn tied it in the fourth and scored three time in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.
The SJU bats were held in check for the second straight game as the Hawks were held to just two hits as the Quakers held on for the win.
In the circle, Anna Lauterbach allowed just two earned runs over six innings, while striking out seven, but was the hard-luck loser, falling to 2-7.
The Hawks return to action this Saturday with a doubleheader at Saint Louis. Game one begins at 1 p.m. ET.
