Brunck Collects 100th Career Hits As Softball Opens Season

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Saint Joseph's senior Madeline Brunck recorded her 100th career hit and classmate Kaylyn Zierke belted a home run as the Hawks' softball team opened its 2017 season on Friday at the Michele Smith Pediatric Cancer Invitational.

Brunck became the 34th Hawk to reach the 100-hit plateau and Zierke collected her first home run of season in game two, but SJU dropped a tough 4-0 contest to Binghamton in the opener, while Hofstra held off a late Saint Joseph's rally, 6-5.

Saint Joseph's continue play on Saturday versus Wisconsin at 11 a.m. and Oklahoma State at 1:30 p.m.
