Men's Soccer Falls at Quinnipiac, 1-0

HAMDEN, Conn. – Matthew Taylor scored in the fifth minute and the Bobcats outshot the Hawks 13-6 as the Saint Joseph's men's soccer squad suffered its first loss of the season, 1-0, to Quinnipiac at the QU Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 1-1-1 while the Bobcats improve to 1-2-0. Saturday's match between the Hawks and the Bobcats marked the first in program history.

Taylor's score came on a double assist from Rashawn Dally and James Doig at the 4:46 mark of the first half.

Junior forward Derek MacKinnon landed SJU's only shot on net, but his shot was saved by Quinnipiac's Chrys Iakovidis in the 17th minute.

Saint Joseph's senior goalkeeper Greg O'Connell (1-1-0) made six saves in the full match effort.

The Hawks return home to host Manhattan (2-1-0) this Wednesday, September 6. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.

MATCH NOTES: Junior midfielder Lou Vilotti saw 20 minutes off the bench in his season debut... Senior defender Tom Santilli saw 15 minutes off the bench in his season debut... Senior midfielder Nick Hartwell saw 14 minutes off the bench in his season debut.
