PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's tennis team fell to Atlantic 10 rival, 7-0, on Friday at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center.

Junior Laura Gomez and Lourdes Sprinckmoller earned a 6-2 win at the second doubles flight to open the match, but Duquesne battled back to earn the first point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Sprinckmoller battled at the fifth seed, going to three sets before falling to Aishwarya Kona 4-6, 6-1,10-8. The Dukes would pick up wins at the other five singles flights to secure the win.

"Duquesne has a strong balanced team and were too strong on their courts," said SJU head coach Ian Crookenden. "An excellent effort from freshman Lourdes Sprinckmoller fell short in the tie break decider. We are looking forward to the outdoor season whenever the weather permits."

The Hawks (1-8) are back in action at home versus Chestnut Hill on Monday.
