The Saint Joseph's softball team earned a split with Fordham on Saturday, falling in the first game, 11-2, and winning the second, 4-1. The Hawks are now 13-15 on the season and 2-4 in the A-10.

Molly Kapala keyed a three-run fourth inning for the Hawks with an RBI single and went 3-for-4 on the game, as did teammate Kirstin Cox. Kapala also drove in a run in the sixth with a single, while Amanda Kulp added a RBI with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Ashley Ventura struck out six in the complete-game victory, to notch the win and moved to 5-8 on the season.

Fordham (15-16; 5-1 A-10) took two of three games in the series, winning Friday's game that stretched into Saturday, 4-0, because of a rain delay. Up 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth before play was called on Friday, the Rams added three runs in the seventh and retired SJU in order in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win.

In Saturday's first full game, Fordham opened a 4-0 lead in the second on a grand slam.

Cox scored on an RBI single by Kapala in the fourth to make it 4-1, but the Rams struck for two in the fifth on back-to-back home runs to take a 6-1 edge.

Cox added her second run of the game in the sixth as she scored off a Fordham error to bring the Hawks to within 6-2.

The Rams scored five times in the seventh to close out the game.

The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday at Rutgers at 3 p.m.
