WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Saint Joseph's softball team's six-game win streak was snapped on Saturday as the Hawks fell at George Washington, 4-2, in the opening game of a doubleheader with the Colonials. The Hawks followed with an 8-4 victory in the nightcap.
George Washington jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but SJU starter Ashley Ventura shut down the Colonials' offense from there holding them scoreless over the final six innings.

A Kulp double in the fourth made it 5-0, while SJU added three runs in the seventh to open an 8-0 lead. Reilly added an RBI single, while Mayer drove in two to push the lead to eight.
George Washington scored four in the bottom of the seventh, but the Hawks held on for the win to move to 21-23 overall and 8-11 in the A-10.
Ventura earned the win in 5.0 innings of scoreless work.
The two teams cap their series with a game set to begin around 1 p.m. on Sunday.
