AMHERST, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's softball team fell to Massachusetts in both games of its doubleheader on Saturday at Sortino Field. The Hawks fell 8-3 in the opener and 4-0 in the nightcap.
The two teams cap their three-game series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
In the opener, Caela Abadie connected in her team-leading fifth Home run of the season with a two-run home run in the fourth and Molly Kapala accounted for the third RBI, but the Minutewomen's early 5-0 lead held up as they added three insurance runs late for an 8-3 win.
In game two, the Hawks accounted for seven runs, including two each from Lauren Reilly and Amanda Kulp, but couldn't get a run around to score.
On the other side, Massachusetts plated one in the first, two in the third and added an insurance run in the fifth to pull away for a 4-0 victory.
