Women's Tennis Kicks Off 2019 SJU Invitational with Doubles Wins

MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team opened the 2019 SJU Invitational on Friday afternoon with doubles play.  Two Hawk pairings advanced in the main draw of the event, which runs through Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the top doubles flight, Amanda Nava and Stow Weiss earned a 9-7 win in the quarterfinals before eventually falling in the semis.

• In the second flight, Madeline Hill and Alex Kramer were 8-6 winners in their first-round tilt, but bowed out in the quarters.

Ireland Amato and Sophia Amato dropped an 8-3 result in their second-flight quarterfinal, but strung together two consecutive wins in the consolation draw to reach the final, which will be played later in the weekend.
