Senior Spotlight: Mike Adler, Men's Lacrosse

Mike Adler made 426 saves through 35 career games in his career on Hawk Hill.
Due to the cancellation of the spring sports season, members of the Class of 2020 will not have the opportunity to have their own special Senior Day experience. Instead, we will spotlight our departing seniors here on SJUHawks.com over the course of the rest of the semester. Today's senior spotlight will feature captain Mike Adler, a 2020 Inside Lacrosse Media All-American Honorable Mention who starred in goal for the Hawks over the last three seasons. Adler will leave Hawk Hall with 22 wins under his belt and fifth all-time in career saves, with 426 for an average of 12.2 rejections per game.

"Mike has always been one of my closest friends on the team," said junior goalkeeper Tucker Almany. "Even though we compete for the same position, there has never been bickering between the two of us, which shows how good of a friend and teammate he is. He is hands down the best goalie I've ever played with or seen play, and even though he rags on my style of play, I have taken and learned a lot from him over the years. He is one of the wackiest people I've ever met, and there is never a peaceful moment when Mike is around."

"Mike is the definition of a leader," added sophomore goalkeeper Dillon Lojeski. "He is selfless in everything he does and has shown me what it takes to become the best version of myself on and off the lacrosse field."

Adler's reflections:

1. What is your favorite Saint Joseph's lacrosse memory?
My favorite SJU memory was beating Hobart in overtime last year.

2. How would you like to be remembered as a member of the Saint Joseph's lacrosse team?
I want to be remembered as a competitor. Hopefully, people see me as someone who continually pushed myself and my teammates to be better both on and off the field.

3. Describe the relationship of this senior class.
The relationship of this senior class is symbolic of what the SJU lacrosse team is about. All of us were under-recruited and came to campus with a huge chip on our shoulder and a desire to leave the program better than how we found it. Each of us had different personalities and perspectives that provided a model for other classes to learn from. The guys in my class encountered many challenges on their four-year journey. Watching them overcome each of these obstacles by falling back on the bond of our class is a testament to the type of relationship we had.

4. What will you miss the most about Saint Joseph's lacrosse?
What I will miss most is the opportunity to simply compete against my best friends on a daily basis. The banter in the locker room, on the field, and in the weight room was something I always looked forward to. I don't think any situation I'm in going forward could replicate that.

5. What has being a member of the Saint Joseph's lacrosse program taught you?
The Saint Joseph's lacrosse program taught me what it means to a great person. Reflecting upon the experiences I've had with past teammates, coaches, and support staff, the one thing I remember is how each person made me feel. At the end of it all, I do not remember who scored the winning goal, or who dropped a pass - I remember how that person treated the people around them. That lesson is the main thing I'm going to take with me through my future endeavors.

6. What will you take out of your involvement with the Saint Joseph's lacrosse program moving forward?
My favorite thing about our program is that your involvement never ends. Every player who had been on the team continues their involvement by being an advocate and supporter of the program. I will follow that same example moving forward.

7. What is your funniest Saint Joseph's memory?
The funniest memory I had was beating Tyler Makar in basketball with the whole team watching. He is a pretty quiet guy so beating him and watching him freak out was hilarious.
