LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Saint Joseph's
Caela Abadie,
Kirstin Cox,
Madison Fife and
Sarah Ostaszewski have garnered NFCA Division I All-Region accolades, organization officials announced on Thursday. Abadie and Cox were both named to the All-Northeast Region Second Team, while Fife and Ostaszewski were Third Team selections.
The Hawks' starting first baseman, Abadie posted one of the best offensive seasons in program history this year, setting new single-season marks for home runs (14) and RBI (56), while posting a team-best .752 slugging percentage to go with a career-best .393 batting average. An Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honoree, Abadie capped her Saint Joseph's career as the all-time leader in career home runs (35) and finished second all-time in career RBI (160) and tied for eighth in career hits (192).
An anchor in the Hawks' outfield, Cox posted the fifth highest batting average in a season as she lead SJU and ranked fourth in the A-10 with a .426 average, while pacing the team in hits (58) and stolen bases (18). Collecting A-10 All-Conference First Team recognition, the four-year starter wrapped up her Saint Joseph's career third all-time in career stolen bases (45).
Adding a spark to Saint Joseph's lineup as the designated player, Fife finished fourth on the team in home runs (five) and fifth in RBI (20), while batting .270. Named to both the A-10 All-Conference Second Team and A-10 All-Rookie Team, Fife shined brightest during conference play as she hit .386, with 17 RBI, 12 runs scored and five home runs over 19 A-10 games.
One of the top catchers in program history, Ostaszewski posted arguably her best season as she hit .350 with a career-best 44 runs scored and 43 RBI, while pacing the Hawks with 12 doubles. Selected to the A-10 All-Conference Second Team, Ostaszewski finished her SJU career first all-time in career doubles (53) and at-bats (688), fourth in career hits (214), and fifth in career runs (129) and career RBI (128).
This season marks just the third time Saint Joseph's has had four All-Region honorees. Both the 2015 and 1996 Hawks had four student-athletes recognized with All-Region accolades.
