Saint Joseph's men's basketball fans, the Hawks return to the court on November 9 as they open the 2021-22 season with an exciting 12-game non-conference schedule that includes eight home contests, and five matchups versus 2021 NCAA Tournament participants.
"We have put together a strong non-conference schedule that will continue to elevate our program. We're excited for the opportunity to compete in Hagan Arena with our passionate fan base supporting us, challenge our team with high-level road games, play in a nationally recognized showcase event, and for all of Hawk Hill Philadelphia to be a part of the next chapter in the story of Saint Joseph's Basketball," said head coach Billy Lange.
Hagan Arena is the backdrop for the start of the upcoming season as the Hawks begin the year at home with four consecutive contests. St. Joe's opens the year versus the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on November 9, and follows with matchups against reigning NEC champion Mount St. Mary's (Nov. 13), CAA champion Drexel (Nov. 17) and Monmouth (Nov. 20).
Traveling to Anaheim, California for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Hawks will take part in the Paycom Wooden Legacy on November 25 and 26. Saint Joseph's opens the two-game showcase event on Thanksgiving night against a USC squad that advanced to the Elite 8 last March. A matchup against 2021 NCAA Tournament participants Georgetown or San Diego State awaits the Hawks on the final day of the event (Nov. 26).
Returning to Hawk Hill to start the month of December, Saint Joseph's hosts Binghamton on December 1. Three straight Big 5 contests follow for the Hawks as they head to Villanova (Dec. 4), before returning home to host Penn (Dec. 8) and Temple (Dec. 11) at Hagan Arena.
St. Joe's caps its non-conference slate with a road contest at Bradley on December 18 and home matchup with Holy Cross on December 22.
