KEENE, N.H. – The USciences golf program registered its best-ever recorded two-round team total, and freshman Thomas Larkin logged the program's best-ever recorded two-round individual total, over the past two days at the Franklin Pierce Fall Invitational hosted at Keen Country Club.
University of the Sciences' two-round team total of 628, highlighted by the now second and tied for third lowest rounds in recorded program history (since Fall 2009), beat the previous record set back on Sept. 29-30, 2013 by 17 strokes.
USciences' 313 in round one on Sunday was three strokes shy of the recorded program record set on Oct. 1, 2012, and the Devils then shot a 315 on Monday, which tied a round from Oct. 21 2019 that was previously the second lowest in recorded program history.
Larkin's two-round total of 144 beat the previous recorded program record set by Scott Cahayla on Sept. 13, 2009 by three strokes.
After his first three collegiate rounds, the freshman now holds three of the five lowest rounds in the program's recorded history.
His 73 on Sunday matched his first collegiate round from four days prior, now tied for fourth in the program's recorded history, while his 71 on Monday trails only the 70s shot by Cahayla on the abovementioned date and Ian Byerly on Oct. 1, 2012.
Larkin placed tied for fifth in the field of 75 at even par, leading the entire field in par-4 scoring at -2.
Fellow freshman Joseph Kepic also moved into the top-five of the program's recorded two-day totals with a 153 to place in the top-half of the field in a tie for 33rd.
His 77 on Sunday was five strokes better than his collegiate debut, and he was one shot better on Monday.
Freshman Adam Chen completed his first two collegiate rounds, beginning with an 81 on Sunday and an 84 on Monday.
Matthew McCaffrey's 82 on Sunday was one stroke shy of his collegiate-best, and he followed that up with an 84 on Monday.
