Box Score The USciences volleyball team played its first match in nearly 22 months on Wednesday evening, welcoming Wilmington to Bobby Morgan Arena for its 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and season-opener.
The Devils held early leads in all three sets, including at 9-3 in the first, 9-7 in the second and 8-3 and 10-7 in the third.
The Wildcats mounted comebacks each time though, winning each set by at least six points.
Angeli Roman Medina led all players with 17 assists, while also racking up a team-high 11 digs to begin the year with a double-double.
Sydney Lawless also had a match-high, with three service aces in her collegiate debut, while Lauren Lim was also in double-figures with 10 digs.
Tori Wright led University of the Sciences with nine kills, one shy of a match-high.
The Devils return home in two days to host Caldwell this Friday night at 7 p.m.
