STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -  The Saint Joseph's men's track and field teams returned to Ocean Breeze Athletic Facility for the second time this season to compete in the Great Dane Classic.

TRACK EVENTS:
  • Senior Ira Daly smashed his previous mile PR. Daly's time of 4:11.16 was good for fifth place overall, is an 8 second PR, hits the IC4A qualifying standard, and ranks him in the top five of the Atlantic 10.
  • Kyle Magee had himself a day in the 500 meters. The senior clocked a PR of 1:04.33. The time currently leads the Atlantic 10, meets the IC4A qualifying standard, and was good for third place overall. Freshman Michael Brittingham (4th, 1:06.02) and sophomore Jayden Greene (5th, 1:06.02) also had a strong showing in this event.
  • Senior Michael Welde continued his breakout season running 21.86 and placing third in the 200 meters. The time improves on his collegiate best set two weeks ago at the Nittany Lion Challenge and moves him up to third in the Atlantic 10. This time also satisfies the IC4A standard and is the second individual event that Welde has qualified for.
  • Junior Matthew Coffey placed fourth in the 3,000 meters clocking a time of 8:24.03, which satisfies the IC4A standard. Coffey becomes the second individual to qualify for SJU in this event.
  • The 4x400 meter relay of sophomore Ladi Bamgbose, sophomore Eric Ford, Magee, and Welde soared to a time of 3:14.73. The time was good enough to win the event overall and is currently the top time in the Atlantic 10.
FIELD EVENTS:
  • Sophomore Patrick Fehm placed sixth in the high jump with a best mark of 1.95 meters. Fehm later doubled back and placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 14.19 meters.
