Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Three Devils scored 16-plus to help the USciences women's basketball team defeat Georgian Court 74-52 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Tuesday evening inside of Bobby Morgan Arena.
University of the Sciences (14-3, 9-2 CACC) never trailed in a contest that featured just two ties.
The final one came at 6-6 before the Devils ripped off eight straight points, capped by an Anna McTamney and-one with 3:16 remaining in the first quarter.
That helped lead to a 19-11 advantage after 10 minutes of play and although GCU made it a two-possession game with the first basket of the second, five straight points by Kendall Keyes made it a double-digit lead nearly for good with 7:28 left in the first half.
University of the Sciences led 44-27 at the break following a 25-point second quarter, but only 57-46 entering the third period.
Georgian Court then opened the scoring in the fourth, only for Jess Huber to halt any potential comeback with nine straight points on back-to-back 3-pointers and three free throws.
That was part of an 11-point quarter for Huber, who fell one point shy of Keyes' game-high of 20. She led USciences with six rebounds, one shy of a career-best.
Keyes also had an 11-point quarter, in the third, while tying career-best by making 5-of-9 3-pointers.
McTamney scored her 16 points in 14 minutes off the bench, making a perfect 5-of-5 from the line.
Those three combined to go 13-of-15 at the foul line as USciences made triple the amount of free throws as GCU, 18-6. The Devils also netted 10 3-pointers to the Lions' two.
In her second career start, Juliana Gura notably led all players with six assists.
University of the Sciences is back at home on Saturday, hosting Nyack at 1 p.m.
