Men's Track Competes at Fastrack National Invitational

STATEN ISLAND N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team headed back to Ocean Breeze Athletic Facility for the third time this season to compete in the Fastrack National Invitational on Friday.
 
TRACK EVENTS:
  • Rookie Carter Geer had himself a day in the 3,000 meters. Geer dropped an impressive nine seconds off his previous collegiate best to clock a time of 8:53.59 to place 15th in a field of 47.
  • Freshman Michael Brittingham continued to impress, this time in the 400 meters. Brittingham clocked a 48.95 to place sixth overall. This time was good for a new PR and an IC4A qualification, and currently ranks him fourth in the A-10. The 400 now becomes the second event that Brittingham has individually qualified for.
  • Senior Michael Szwed claimed third in the 800 meters, clocking a season best time of 1:54.58. The time is just half a second shy of the IC4A qualifying standard in this event. Sophomore Jayden Greene followed, taking seventh overall in a time of 1:55.61
  • St. Joe's two DMR's impressed, claiming first and second overall. The "A" relay of senior Zach Smith (1,200 meters), senior Kyle Magee (400 meters), freshman Graham Phillips (800 meters), and senior Ira Daly claimed gold in a time of 10:03.34. The "B" relay followed closely behind with sophomore Gavin Campbell (1,200 meters), senior Michael Welde (400 meters), freshman Josh Thaler (800 meters), and senior Matthew Coffey (1,600 meters) clocking a time of 10:05.06. Both relays satisfied the IC4A standard in this event.
FIELD EVENTS:
  • Sophomore Patrick Fehm placed third in the triple jump with a best mark of 13.93 meters.
UP NEXT:
Select Hawks will compete Saturday at the Monmouth Winter Challenge. Next week the team will head to Princeton N.J. for the Princeton Invitational for a final tune up before the Atlantic 10 Championships.
