ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team opened its spring slate at Navy on Saturday, falling 6-1 at the Tose Family Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The teams split the first two doubles flights to finish, as Alex MacNeil and Nathan Perrone earned a 6-4 win in the second flight, but a top-flight victory secured the doubles point for the hosts.

• On the singles side, Nassim Fenjiro put the Hawks on the board, winning his sixth-flight match in straight sets, but the Midshipmen would claim the remaining flights to finish off the victory.

HAWK TALK
"Our season opener was against a very well-coached team and one of the toughest that we will face this season," head coach Marc Pibernat said.  "The team is practicing very well and the energy they bring every day is very high.  I really think that the overall score did not reflect what really happened.  We had chances to win five matches out of six and we could only capitalize on one match.  As a coach I'm scratching my head trying to understand why we lost 6-1 but at the end of the day this is tennis and it can happen.

"Even tough the whole group is practicing hard and playing great tennis, today we were missing that match play experience, which we will get as the season goes on and we play more matches."
