Box Score 2 NORTH WALES, Pa. – In addition to hitting his second career home run, Adam Estrada came on to throw a scoreless eighth and ninth inning to earn his first career save in an 11-9 game one triumph at Chestnut Hill on Sunday afternoon.
The Griffins would go on to win game two 9-1 to secure the doubleheader split.
Game One
University of the Sciences erased two deficits, ultimately taking control with a four-run seventh.
That capped six unanswered to erase a 5-4 deficit, following RBI singles by AJ Pena and Evan Sinclair in the fifth and sixth.
The seventh began with an error, and it was Estrada immediately capitalizing with an RBI double for a 7-5 advantage.
The next two outs were recorded, but Nick Cerelli came through with an RBI double and after an Eddie Parry infield single, Sinclair's two-RBI double would turn out to be the game-winner.
Chestnut Hill responded with a four-run bottom-half, but the Griffins could never tie it.
Vince Cammisa added what turned out to be unneeded insurance with his first career home run in the eighth.
Estrada then came on and proceeded to strand runners on first and second in both of his frames. At the plate, he went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, a walk and the home run.
Cerelli reached base four times with three hits, three runs, two doubles and a walk, while Sinclair had three hits too, to go along with three RBI.
Parry joined Estrada in finishing with two hits, two runs and a base on balls, while Frank Pollock also reached base three time with two walks and a hit.
Cammisa scored three times, in addition to his home run.
Starter John McCrane had seven strikeouts in his five innings, notably moving into fourth in program history with 165 for his career. His first win of the season was the seventh of his career, now tied for 10th all-time.
Parry's two-RBI single in the third cancelled out runs by CHC in both the first and second, before a Pollock RBI single capped a three-run third for USciences' first lead.
Estrada's fourth-inning homer doubled the advantage, but the Griffins would score three in the bottom-half to re-gain the lead.
Game Two
Sinclair's solo home run to lead off the second momentarily tied the score at 1-1, but CHC would answer with three in the bottom-half en route to taking control.
Joe Duffy notably recorded his 100th career hit as part of a 2-for-3 performance.
Louis Fresta pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
