Box Score CALDWELL, N.J. – The USciences women's basketball team advanced to a fourth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Championship Game in five seasons with a 62-47 victory over Post at Caldwell on Saturday evening.
The Devils will attempt to win their third CACC Championship in five seasons when they take on rival Jefferson at Caldwell tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
It will be the fourth straight season in which the two teams meet in the CACC Tournament, including the third time in the title game. The two teams have combined to win the last four CACC Championships (excluding the COVID restricted 2020-21 season).
University of the Sciences has now held half of its opponents this season to 50 points or less.
The Devils limited Post to just 31.3 percent shooting (19-of-61), which included missing its first 23 3-point attempts
Jess Huber led all players with 20 points, her 10th 20-point performance, while adding team-highs of eight rebounds and four assists.
Isla Brennan helped USciences' bench outscore the Eagles' 23-0 as she poured in 14 of her career-high 17 points after the half. She made 7-of-10 field goals and 3-of-5 triples.
Kendall Keyes made it three Devils in double-figures with 11 points, while finishing second on the team with three assists.
Shannon May was second on the team with seven boards, while tying for a game-high with three steals.
University of the Sciences (22-4) scored the first six points and led throughout, answering Post getting as close as one, 7-6, with an 8-0 run capped by Huber's and-one to make the score 15-6 with 1:11 left in the first quarter.
The Eagles got within five, 18-13, midway through the second, but this time the Devils responded with four straight points before Kerry Patterson's 3-pointer established the evening's first double-digit advantage, 25-15, 1:37 ahead of the break.
The first half lead grew as large as 12, 27-15, on an Anna McTamney layup 50 seconds later, but Post scored the final three points to make the score 27-18 entering the locker room.
The Eagles (19-8) pulled within seven, 29-22, two minutes into the second half, only to have four different Devils contribute to nine unanswered that made it a double-digit advantage for good after Brennan's triple brought the scoreboard to 38-22 with 4:02 showing on the third quarter clock.
