NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph's graduate student
Nathan Perrone and freshman
Justus Agbo were named the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. The awards are for performances between April 3 and April 10.
Perrone had a perfect week, posting three wins in the top singles flight and three in the top doubles flight as the Hawks went 2-1. He partnered with
Nickolas Frisk for doubles wins against Delaware, Duquesne, and George Mason before taking all three of his singles matches in straight sets. A native of Moorestown, New Jersey, Perrone dropped a total of just five games in his two matches against conference foes, and the win over George Mason gave him 23 for the season, tying a program single-season record.
Agbo, out of Montreal, Quebec, also enjoyed a perfect doubles week, partnering with
Alp Sentay for three second-flight victories. After clinching the doubles point against Duquesne, Agbo went on to earn a singles win, and then was leading his match against GMU when play was halted.
Perrone, Agbo, and the Hawks return to action on Wednesday when the Hawks host Villanova.
