Welde Sets A-10 Leading Time in the 400m to lead Men's Track at the Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON N.J.- The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team headed back to Princeton's Weaver Stadium for the second time this season to compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday.

TRACK EVENTS:
  • In the 1,500m, junior Matthew Coffey snagged the IC4A standard en route to a seventh-place overall finish with a time of 3:54.33. Senior Zach Smith also set a collegiate-best time of 3:55.95 to narrowly miss the IC4A standard. 
  • The 400m saw senior Michael Welde place third overall in a time of 47.29. This time currently ranks Welde first in the A-10 and lowers his PR in this event. 
  • Senior Michael Szwed led the Crimson & Gray in the 800m running a time of 1:53.28 to place fifth overall. Sophomore Jayden Greene placed eighth with a season-best time of 1:54.22. 
  • Senior Kyle Magee claimed silver in the 400m hurdles running a collegiate-best time of 53.40. 
  • The 4x400m relay of rookie Michael Brittingham, senior Kris Edobi, Szwed, and Magee took second overall in a time of 3:15.46. 
 FIELD EVENTS:
  • Sophomore Patrick Fehm took fourth overall in the high jump with a best mark of 2.05m. This mark also qualifies him for the IC4A Championships.
 UP NEXT:
The Hawks are set to compete next at the Widener Invitational. The meet will run from April 22 to April 23.
