Box Score 2 PHILADELPHIA – Evan Sinclair's seventh-inning grand slam in game one tied the score at 6-6, but Post answered with a four-run eighth before winning the nightcap 16-8 on Saturday at Richie Ashburn Field.
Sinclair reached base in all but one at-bat, finishing 2-for-3 with four hit-by-pitches and a walk.
Game One
University of the Sciences trailed 6-2 entering its final at-bat, which began with an AJ Pena single.
The first out was recorded, but Nick Cerelli singled and Eddie Parry walked to bring Sinclair to the plate.
Frank Pollock followed the grand slam with a walk, and pinch-runner Chris Brown stole second base with two outs, but he was stranded in scoring position as the potential game-winning run.
Pollock and Sinclair were also involved in a two-run third that began with a Joe Duffy triple. Parry's sacrifice fly cancelled out Post's second-inning unearned run, and back-to-back hits by Sinclair (single) and Pollock (double) gave USciences what turned out to be its only lead of the day.
That lead lasted until the Eagles' two-run fifth, the only frame in which the Eagles got to starter John McCrane.
McCrane turned in his first quality start of the season, allowing just two earned on six hits with six strikeouts in his six innings.
As soon as he was lifted, Post tallied three runs in the seventh to build the four-run advantage.
Game Two
The Eagles scored five runs in the first and although USciences got as close as one twice, the Devils could never tie the game.
University of the Sciences got as close as 5-4 on Adam Estrada's two-RBI single in the third, as well as 7-6 on Pollock's sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Each time the Eagles had the answer, plating two in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
University of the Sciences made one final push to within 10-8 in the fifth, but Post put the game away for good with a six-run seventh.
Pena led the offense by going 3-for-4 with two RBI and his second career home run.
Cerelli also homered, the ninth of his career to move into a tie for seventh in program history, as part of a 2-for-4 performance that included three RBI and two runs.
