PHILADELPHIA- The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team returned to competing at the Penn Relays after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic on Friday. The Hawks had an impressive showing on day one with strong performances in both the relays and individual events.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- The college men's DMR put down a blazing performance with a season best time of 9:54.78 to place eighth out of a field of 15. The relay was comprised of senior Zach Smith (1,200m, 3:02.22), senior Kris Edobi (400m, 48.79), sophomore Gavin Campbell (800m, 1:53.10), and junior Matthew Coffey (1,600m, 4:09.80).
- The 4x400m of senior Michael Welde, sophomore Eric Ford, freshman Eric Ford, and senior Kyle Magee clocked a time of 3:14.27 to place fifth out 26 teams, to qualify for tomorrows final.
- Patrick Fehm took tenth in the high jump with a best mark of 1.99m. Fehm later doubled back to compete in the triple jump, placing tenth again with a mark of 14.27, which stands as the second-best mark of his career for this event.

The Hawks return to action for the final day of Penn Relays tomorrow. For those not competing in the Penn Relays, they will head to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Lehigh Covert Classic.
