LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team opened play at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships on Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Liberty University.
In the Bronze singles draw,
Ernesto Ruy earned a win over Temple's Adam Kresina, 6-4, 6-3, in his opening match before falling to eighth-seeded Robert Hagen of Radford.
Justus Agbo and
John Butler saw singles action in the Bronze Draw as well, with Agbo dropping a three-set battle, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, to Temple's Erden Er and Butler going down to Jakub Solarski of Norfolk State.
In the doubles portion of the draw, Agbo and Ruy suffered an 8-4 defeat to Alexandre Gluck and Ids Waterbolk of Delaware.
The Hawks will play consolation matches on Thursday as the tournament continues.
