DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team puts its two-game win streak on the line, heading to North Carolina for an Atlantic 10 matchup with Davidson on Wednesday evening.

The Hawks continue a two-game road trip with Davidson after defeating Dayton on the road last Saturday. The win over the Flyers broke a 10-game losing streak. The Hawks also broke a duct of nine-straight losses on the road to Dayton, having previously last won in Dayton in the 2003-04 season. Late runs in each of the opening two quarters saw the Hawks hold a one-point advantage at the break. Mackenzie Smith scored 10 of the final 12 points of the third quarter before Julia Nyström hit back-to-back threes to start the fourth and put the lead at double figures. The Hawks were able to keep the Flyers at bay en route to its second-straight victory.

Katie Jekot passed St. Joe's assistant coach Ashley Prim (417) on the all-time assists leaderboard, becoming eighth all-time in program history with 419 assists. Laura Ziegler, the A-10 Rookie of the Week, posted an 11 point, 11 rebound double-double in the win. Ziegler has now tallied three double-doubles in the last four games, all four of those games finishing with double-digit rebounds. Talya Brugler shook off her worst scoring performance of the season against VCU (5) with a game-high 19 points against Dayton. For the first time in five years, the Hawks finished with two players collecting a double-double as Mackenzie Smith recorded her first with 11 points and 11 rebounds. All five starters against the Flyers recorded at least 10 points, the first time St. Joe's recorded five players with 10+ points since December 13, 2020 against Lincoln.

Scouting The Wildcats
The Wildcats enter the matchup after experience a conference season of runs so far. After falling 0-2 to start the campaign, Davidson recorded four-straight wins. The Wildcats are now 1-3 in their last four after falling to Richmond on Sunday.

Elle Sutphin leads the ranks of the Wildcat squad, posting a team-high in points per game (17.3), rebounds per game (7.8) and steals (32). Sutphin shoots at a clip of 88.0% at the line and nearly 50% from the field. Suzi-Rose Deegan adds double-figures per night, pitching in 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds. Issy Morgan has been the floor general of the group, leading Davidson with 67 assists to go along with her near seven points per contest.

Let It Fly
The Hawks took 32 three-point attempts against Dayton, setting a new season-high. 11 of the 32 attempts came in the first quarter. SJU connected on 11 of the 32 for 34.4%, tying its most makes on the season - last done against North Florida. The 32 attempts were the most in a game for St. Joe's since 12/6/18 in a loss to Auburn, also taking 32 attempts.

Double Double-Double
Laura Ziegler continues to shine in her rookie season, collecting her third double-double in the last four games and her sixth of the season with an 11 point, 11 rebound performance against Dayton. Joining her in the double-double territory was Mackenzie Smith, recording the first of her career with 14 points and 11 rebounds - a career-high for the Nova Scotian. Reverse Fortune

The Hawks stormed past VCU in a 22-point win, breaking a six-game losing streak against the Rams. Following up with a win at Dayton, the Hawks ended what was a 10-game losing streak against the Flyers. St. Joe's went on the road to defeat Dayton for the first time in 10 tries, having not won prior since the 2003-04 season.

Bombarding The Boards
The Hawks posted impressive numbers against the conference's best rebounding team entering Saturday's game, outrebounding Dayton 43-37 on the glass. Included in that number was 20 offensive rebounds, the most since February 22, 2020. In the 12-point win, the Hawks held a 19-6 advantage in second-chance opportunities.
